ORBIT is a (for the timebeing) online initiative, aiming to support and showcase the work of emerging artists and writers throughout the UK, with the initial aim of publishing reviews/articles and hosting residencies on a weekly basis. ORBIT hopes to act as a platform for discussion and collaboration between artists at all different stages of their career from all across the country.

ORBIT was created in January 2019 by Liverpool-based artist Elizabeth Challinor, purely out of personal frustration of being a recently-graduated artist and not knowing where to go or what to do. This platform hopes to act as a way of preventing recently-graduated/emerging artists from hitting that brick wall – helping them to gain a presence in the art world and keep the ball rolling with their creative practise – allow emerging writers the opportunity to share and develop their writing, and to forge connections that will hopefully help to provide a lot more exposure and opportunities for recent graduates/artists at the beginning of their professional career.

The long-term goal is to turn ORBIT into a tangible project, as we are hoping to eventually curate exhibitions that will promote and celebrate the work of emerging artists from across the country, before (hopefully) turning it into a more permanent, tangible gallery space.
